THE STORY BEHIND THIS SONG

As part of a 31-day creative program I participated in (called, Artful August), I decided that my project would be: “A song to change the world”. I am not quite sure why I chose this concept and when I wrote this title, I had no idea what that song would be.

As it turns out, while I started out writing a song for the world, I ended up writing to me.

A NOTE ABOUT USING SUNO AI:  I chose to use Suno AI to perform the song for me (using a model of my voice). I know that not everyone will agree with this decision, so here is my explanation. I spent about 10 days free writing and exploring my thoughts and ideas. Each morning I opened my journal, wrote the words “A song to change the world” at the top, and just started writing. Gradually I began writing the words that would become this song. I then composed the music on piano. I then recorded a rough demo of me playing and singing the song with the style and feel I wanted. I uploaded that demo and had Suno AI perform the song so I could hear it as a fully produced piece (which is just an extraordinary thing — how can it do this?!). While I am still in two minds about the whole AI thing (and a little conflicted), it definitely allowed me to share the song much more quickly and easily than would once have been possible, and helped me to overcome any concern that my own performance may distract from the message. And, after playing it for a few people who liked it, I decided to just “put it out there”.
